Film Teaser Korean Adoptions to Switzerland
Setting out in search of one’s origins after adoption is an intimate and moving journey, one that blends hope and pain. It’s a quest for identity, an attempt to pick up the pieces of a troubled history, while confronting the silences and ghosts of the past. Since the end of the Korean War over 70 years ago, thousands of children have been sent abroad, uprooted, and separated from their culture and history. Now adults, many are trying to retrace their steps, searching for long-hidden truths.
Working title: K-ADOPTION This new project will be directed by a young Swiss man of Korean origin, Chan-Won Park, whom we are supporting with our company Troubadour Films.
This film explores two key questions: What impact does international adoption have on adopted children, and why is it so difficult for them to trace their roots? Why do Korean authorities remain silent about the plight of the more than 200,000 Koreans adopted worldwide?
With this film, we attempt to understand the quest for identity of these Korean children adopted in Switzerland. Now adults, they have families, successful lives, and are firmly rooted in Switzerland. However, their journey toward understanding their identity remains marked by unanswered questions and unspoken wounds.
This project is much more than a film; it is a human adventure, an intimate and fragile journey that touches the very essence of what it means to search for and find oneself.
